Тази статия (есе всъщност) е много важно четиво. В стегнат вид описва множество социални процеси, за които ние обикновено предпочитаме да не говорим. Тепърва ще четем критиката по изложените тези.
И макар че много от описанията са типично американски, за мен е много лесно да пренеса тази реалност в Дъблин или София. И да видя себе си и своите действия в описаните.
А четейки, винаги ми прави впечатление съпротивата на тази реалност. От бенефициентите, ако темата се повдигне някъде. А в есето има цяла глава посветена на тази умишлена слепота и отричане
“We have trouble telling the difference between a social critique and a personal insult. Thus, a writer points to a broad social problem with complex origins, and the reader responds with, “What, you want to punish me for my success?”
И за какво?:

We’re willing to strip everyone, including ourselves, of the universal right to a good education, adequate health care, adequate representation in the workplace, genuinely equal opportunities, because we think we can win the game. But who, really, in the end, is going to win this slippery game of escalating privileges?”
