…and some of Route 66 in between.
Going south-east from Vegas, we stopped for an hour in the blistering heat on the Hoover Dam. Epic engineering everywhere there – the dam, the bridge and everything around, but the temperatures of over 43°C and no shade whatsoever, made even the morning hard to walk around.
Another few hours of desert driving later and we were a lot higher in a nice afternoon in Williams, AZ for great burgers and a dash towards the Grand Canyon sunset. We passed quickly through the village and walked the half hour trek to the Shoshone Point where we could have one of the best viewpoints on the South Rim all for ourselves.
